It should work. People have previously used 2gb external arrays with the units successfully.
1.5 Tb external hard drive?
I have a HR21-700. Has anyone been able to use an external hard drive with one of the new 1.5 TB Seagate drives in it?

I've been using one in a Vox V1 enclosure that origibally came with a 250GB drive in it. It's pretty smooth but with a few stutters once in a while. I got a few occasional stutters with the original internal drive too though, so I can't tell how much difference there may be yet.
