i seem to be getting funny readings on 103c transpondes 2,4,6,10

when i go to the signal strenght screen i get the following

77 70 79 81 76 77 79 80
77 78 81 79 78 79 na na
84 na na na na 85 na na

now if u let it sit there and cycle though some of the tranponders drop to 0.

lets say transponders 2 drops to 0 which had 70 before, if you go to the signal meter screen on its shows a signal strenth of 47/52.

now if you back back out of the meter screen to the strenght screen it show this
-
77 46 79 50 76 50 79 79
77 65 80 80 78 80 na na
84 na na na na 86 na na

notice the tranponder 2,4,6,10 are alot lower

now it you exit out back to tv and go back into the strenght screen you are back to the first set of signals with 70,80,81 for transponders 2,4,6,10 and if you go into the meter screen to lowers them again. You never see the higher numbers in the meter screen.

Now whats up with this?

the dish is so hot right now you can't hardly touch it. it 93' with a heat index of 110' and clear skies. this has happened at least the last two days.

now when the sun goes down my reading return to normal mid 80' for all of them no 70 like i see now.

all of my other 99(mis 80's),101(mid 90's),110(mis 90's),119(mid 90's) there is no change

so what does the crowd think?

ok here are my numbers after dark and a cool down

81 85 82 84 79 82 80 83
79 82 81 83 77 82 na na
83 na na na na 88 na na

The occasional "blinking 0's" on the signal strength grids are kind of normal, but that does indeed sound like a temperature-related LNB problem, if you're seeing those low numbers on the Signal Meters. If this is an HR2x, do you notice this on both tuners? Additionally, it would be hard to check whether you were actually losing channels on those tp's, since the mpeg4 Ka signals will hang on much lower than the Ku's, usually down into the 30's. You could check a few channels next time it rains: D10 & D11 TP/Channel Maps

ok whats the point in peaking if there is a problem with the lnb
ur hd channels come through on a smaller band compared to the regular definition! 70s and 80s are not sufficent for 103 and hd they will fall out with the smallest accurance!!!

Christopher, you can't just call in and, "....ask for a new one." You need to be missing HD channels with signal strengths on 103(c) tp's <70. While most repair tech's carry LNB's on their trucks, getting them to actually try swapping one out is sometimes problematic. It's usually the last thing they want to check. Have plenty of cold liquids and a Jackson on hand.

Your night time 103(c) numbers aren't all that bad. You didn't say what type of dish you have, the AT-9 ("sidecar") or the AU9-S (Slimline). If you have an AT-9 and you have to have your LNB replaced, they will replace your whole dish with a Slimline, which will naturally require an alignment. If you have a Slimline, they just install a whole new LNB assembly, but they won't re-align the dish unless you ask them.

Most installers would think your current night time 103(c) signals are fine, so you'll have to decide what is required for you to get him to poke them up into the 90's....:) Be sure and check the 99(c)'s as well. Cold liquids + Jackson's.....
