When restarting... Hold down-arrow and record at the same time, till the system reboots again.Brantel said:I am on the phone waiting now for tech support.
I have tried everything. Nothing works.
Do you think a full format will do it?
I have tried using the record and down button but no record light ever comes on.
What is the exact proceedure for doing a full format?
You might try downloading the code again ! Maybe there was an error when the code was burned. Also reset and power cycle sometimes act a little different.Brantel said:Due to the fact that this happened after I did a 5-10 minute cool down, this could be a major problem because most people may not have done that yet.
I was on the phone for over 2 hours last night with tech support and customer retention. Tech support had no idea how to fix it but we went through all the proceedures they have for troubleshooting.
One person told me that the unit was overheated because I put it in standby mode. She said never do that, I asked her why it had a power button if you were not suppose to do that and she said to please hold. Mine goes to standby when I push the power off button on the remote for the TV so she had no answer for that.
Finally customer retention decided to send a tech out today with a new reciever.
I have my doubts that he will show with a HR20 on such a short notice but I will wait and see.
Bottom line is that this thing died for no apparent reason and it seems others are starting to see the same problem. I think D* needs to do some sort of failure analysis on my box to see what happened.
I did this -- no change. The CSR I spoke with was very nice and said they would ship a new one out today. We will see..dvrblogger said:You might try downloading the code again ! Maybe there was an error when the code was burned. Also reset and power cycle sometimes act a little different.
I forced new downloads, unplugged, RBR, uplugged for some time, short time, removed BBC's, switched sat inputs, removed access card and tried to power up, unplugged HDMI, used component, Svideo, Composite to the Tv, stood on my head and did chants to the satellite gods, etc.dvrblogger said:You might try downloading the code again ! I'm glad you found the solution to your problem. I listed this in the Troubleshooting Guide yesterday. I hope it helps others before they get as frustrated as you did.humorme201 said:For ****s and giggles, I decided to unplug each network cable from the back of each box and click on reset...GUESS WHAT?? It friggin' worked...the software update finished its install, and the systems ALL came back to life!!! I plugged the network cables back into the boxes and there have been no issues...
