They want $10 for HD access fee for *each* HD receiver, and a $5 lease fee for each..? Is that right? The reason I ask is I'm about to order my second HD DVR and it keeps adding "HD access fee" to my cart for $9.99 even when I'm logged in.

I always thought the HD access fee was $9.99 and I could add multiple HD DVR's.

That's about the going rate for any provider. You got to be in it to win it.

You only pay one $10 HD access fee and that covers all HD receivers on your account.

Then you will have to pay $5.99 DVR fee and that covers all DVR's on your account.

Then you pay $4.99 for each receiver after the first one. It is called leased fee but it is to mirror the programming to each receiver.

No. It's 10 dollars a month for HD access period. Not each receiver.

They do charge the lease fee per each receiver after your first one.

That's what I was hoping and thought, but I'm logged into my Directv account I add a new receiver to my cart, and it also adds HD access fee and shows my new monthly totals increasing an addition $9.99 for HD access a month. I already have an activated HD DVR and am already paying the $9.99 access fee so I'm confuses. I guess I'll have to ask them.. D* that is.

Call in, the website ordering thing is messed up sometimes and does not always understand your setup.

For me it keeps wanting to add a Slimline Dish Upgrade even though I already have a Slimline Dish...installed by Directv.

I tried to order the HD extra pack for about two weeks and it would always fail so I gave up. Two weeks after that, those etra channels were viewable. Not sure what happened but saved a call.

Okay calling in is worse then the website. I'm going to try during the day tomorrow, the 3 people I spoke to all went with what the order page reports off the website. Had no idea what I was talking about, kept telling me it's normal Fort he $9.99 fee. They all said each HD receiver requires the HD access fee of $9.99 and also the $4.99 lease. I think they were just going by the website. I got higher support twice and they all said the same thing. I ended up giving up after the last one deleted my early bird package pricing for the NBA ticket, then said she couldn't re-add it but made a note on my account..

That sucks on the NBA package. Make sure they fix you back up. What team are you pulling for this year?

I'm a Lakers fan, not a Kobe fan though as most Lakers fans are. I like Kobe, but I'm reeeeaaally interested in Bynum/Gasol playing together. No more Odom though :( I liked him.

But I also watch the Suns/Detroit/Denver often. I'm pulling for Detroit to beat out Boston before the finals and pulling for a Lakers/Suns rematch in the playoffs from a few yrs ago. Denver is just fun to watch win games without defense or apparently practice Carmello and Iverson don't practice much.

What package do you have? I have the Plus package with HD/DVR, since I don' watch a lot of the movie channels. The HD Charge and the initial DVR charge is included in the $72.99 monthly price... then all I have to pay for are my additional receivers.

I think they have something messed up in the programming for the packages. A few months ago, I went to the website and added Starz. Unfortunately, I had to change from my old total choice plus with HD to the new Choice Xtra Plus HD DVR package (I didn't realize I could call in and keep my old package). Anyway, my $9.99 a month credit for HD dropped off my account. So I called in and the guy wasn’t able to add the credit back in because the system kept telling him I didn’t have an HD package. In the end, he just gave me a flat $10 credit for 6 months.

My advice is to call another CSR. Unless something has changed since yesterday (when my last billing cycle closed), the $9.99 HD Access fee is *per account* and the $5.99 DVR Service fee is also *per account*. It may be that the process of ordering the DVR automatically selects these items, but they should not get charged to your account twice. If the CSR can’t confirm this, then ask for a supervisor.

I once went thru the steps of ordering an HD DVR on the web, and the form tried to add the HD fee, even though I was paying it already and had been for a year.

If I had gone through with the order, I'd have just let it go and see if it showed up twice on the next bill. I think that would be unlikely, and easily corrected if it did. Of course, that's just my opinion.

After 50 minutes on the phone and 3 tiers of supposed tech support an actual native to the english language answered and had the extra $9.99 fee fixed/removed and my receiver ordered and a $99 credit for the frustration (think she could tell I was turning into an emo axe murderer by my tone).

They have some great reps and some are just awful I can't believe the difference. I certainly hope they have a substantial pay difference between them.

I guess it was worth the frustration because of the credit back though.. I wonder if I'll get someones refrub'd HR20 now? lol..

So I guess you weren't connected to their Alabama call center, huh?:p

I'm glad it worked out, but of course it should not have taken that much effort!

Actually, that might not be so bad. I have four HR2-700's (two were new, two were refurbs) and all are pretty solid. Plus you get OTA if you need it.
