OK, thanks to Ray and the great DIRT support here I understand I can upgrade from my 722 and 2 612s to 2 Hoppers/1 Joey and actually have my monthly bill go down a little each month.

Before I pull the trigger: Is there any downside (other than the initial cost) of 2 Hoppers/1 Joey vs. 1 Hopper/2 Joeys? Anyone with a 2 Hopper/1 Joey setup here wish they'd gone the other way?

You need to decide how many tuners you need. One hopper will give you 3 tuners and two will give you 6 tuners. PTAT will take one tuner if you use it and any recording will take a tuner. If you have 3 tv's in use all at the same time, you will not have enough tuners to watch live tv on all tv's at the same time. I have 4 tv's and started out with 1 hopper and 3 joey's and within 1 day was not happy and replaced a joey with a hopper.

Yeah, that's our issue: we don't often have the 3 TVs being watched live at the same time, but on occasion when we have family staying with us. So the additional tuners seem like a nice thing to have. Unless someone has a good reason that would be better to go 1 Hopper/2 Joeys.

I have 2 Hoppers and 2 Joeys. Except for the extra inital cost, I cannot think of any negative to having 2 Hoppers.
