 So what...

To go with a recent thread, I do not ever watch PPV with all the new rules. Yes, I know its not D*'s fault, but its easier to have Netflix or similiar where I get what I want and do not have to worry about the darn 24 hour rule.

Bring on more lil hd's and national channels!

Just to chime in, as a cable and a DBS sub, PPV is of no value to me whatsoever. I already have every English-language premium movie channel on the Planet, if not the Galaxy (probably not the Universe ;)) and, as a mature, patient individual, I have no problem waiting several months or so to enjoy the 'latest' blockbuster flick on HBO, Starz, Showtime or SkinnyMax or HDNet Movies.

The money I save by not going to the movies and not buying PPV and not renting DVDs fully pays for my full-boat cable pkg plus my HD-only Dish pkg combined, not to mention the money I save on gas by not going out for the latest flicks! :D

I must admit, I'm not a big PPV fan either. Last weekend my wife, daughter, and I went out for dinner. We were in the mood for a movie when we got home, so I went to the pushed movies (whatever its called) and we watched 21. Before that its been years since I've ordered any PPV. It was a couple bucks more than the local rental place, but it was nice to just let dinner digest and not have to leave the house. I'm in a small town and the local rental houses don't carry Blu-ray yet either.

I totally agree with this. I do the same thing. I feel the same way.

Well, it's not a new concept -- ask any owner of a dedicated home theater...and don't
get me started on the outrageous price of refreshments in a movie theater! :new_popco !pepsi!

To each his own. I subscribe to only one premium movie channel at a time and the money I save (by not subscribing to all) allows me to buy a few PPVs per month and put money in the bank and still have movies left over on the DVR.

If you were even more patient you would wait for the movies to come out on the free movie channels, or TBS or TNT.

Everyone has his/her own movie watching preferences - let's keep in mind that everyone's lifestyle is different and try not to judge the other guy just because he doesn't do it your way. The PPV-bashing around here is out of control lately.

Don't be so sensitive. I didn't bash anything, nor did I judge anyone, but I would like to think I am free to express my own personal opinions about viewing preferences without being accused of "PPV-bashing".

After all, isn't that what DB Stalk is all about?

I wasn't directing it only at you, Nick. But since you called it out:

and, as a mature, patient individual, I have no problem waiting several months

Which logically means that anyone that doesn't wait several months doesn't possess those qualities. No?

Just sayin'... :D

Don't be so thin-skinned, Nick. I have a right to defend my viewing habits, too. :)
