I have had 2 remotes in RF mode working on my HR20 but had to get a new one that DTV sent me. The new one came with a remote but I have been unable to get either of my original remotes programmed to the unit. Whe I got the second remote for my original HR20 I had no problem but I must have forgotten a step. Tech support was of no help they want to send a new remote but they were both working before I swapped receivers.

Obviously, the new HR20 is set up for IR control. Use the third remote to change it to RF.

Reason your original remotes are not controlling the new receiver is that they're married to the old receiver via the RID #.

If the new receiver is IR mode, to get the old remotes working in IR mode again do the following:

1. dtv
2. press and hold MUTE & SELECT for two blinks
3. enter 9 6 1
4. press CH DOWN

The remotes should be in IR mode and controlling the receiver.


If the new receiver is in RF mode an controlled by the remote that came with it, to get the old RF remotes controlling it also, do the following on the remotes themselves, leaving the receiver alone:

1. dtv
2. press and hold MUTE & SELECT for two blinks
3. enter 9 6 1
4. press CH UP
5. enter the last 6 digits of the receiver ID #, found on a sticker in the access card compartment
6. press SELECT

repeat for the other remote.

Thanks... Why did the D*op not know this? Going to send me a new remote though and said I would not have to send the other back and all along I knew nothing was wrong with the remotes..Go Figure !

Makes sense. Now that would make for an interesting call to a CSR, wouldn't it.
