Last night I ordered a 24p PPV, first 24p I've ever ordered. Picture was great, played back via HDMI through my AV receiver from my HR23-700. The receiver played the audio through my 5.1 speakers, and did a straight unprocessed video signal pass-through via HDMI to my LCD. What I found odd, though, was audio sync drifted. It would be dead on, and slowly drift to a very noticeable lag, then drift back closer to correct. I could periodically correct it manually by pausing the movie, but it would always drift, always backwards.

I can correct an audio delay via my receiver, but this has only occurred via this 24p PPV, does not happen via BluRay, or via normal non-PPV DirecTV viewing.

Is this a known issue, or did I just get unlucky last night?

Hello JeffBowser,

If I am reading this right there is 1080p at 24fps 24 frames per second (round up from 23.976) just like 60fps is 59.94. See for information on frame rates. As to the audio I am unable to answer as my television will not allow a 24fps signal. Try other cabling for the audio direct to the tv if it has the ports such as coaxial digital and optical. As a last resort use the analog audio cables to test and see if the results change or stay the same. I hope that others that have the right equipment can help you further.

I'm not questioning the frame rate, it was a 1080p PPV movie, perhaps I used the wrong description. I'm questioning the drifting audio that was exclusive to the 1080p PPV, and is not happening at any other time.

I haven't experienced the drift on 1080p titles. Was it a download, ppv channel or predownloaded movie? Also, what movie...I may watch one today and can check if it's one I may watch.

I'm almost embarrassed to admit - it was Abduction. It was a PPV channel, I don't have my receivers connected to the internet, and I don't have pre-downloads anymore, which seems odd now that I think of it.
