Can a person use the s video connector on a 322 to connect to a HDTV. I know
that I need to upgrade but I was gonna try this in the mean time. If a person can
do this do you not hook up the coax cable from the receiver to the tv.

If the tv has an s-video connection, yes. Several HD tv's do not handle the s-video and the picture quality suffers, but it is better than the coax connection.

If you have a Sony, you can expect a really good job of upscaling the SD to higher resolution with the S-Video, progressive or interlaced setting on your TV. Some other manufacturers do a really poor job of upscaling. This is a point that many people who buy HD sets forget to evaluate. We are still gonna see a whole lot of SD for some years to come--even VHS, and it is better to find an HD set that does justice to SD.
