I love the functionality of my 510. I have movies and specials going back almost 2 years but am running out of room. I have transferred a lot to DVD using my desktop Pansonic DVD recorder, but I would like to keep everything on the 510. Is there a way to either place a larger hard drive in the 510 or transfer everything to a computer hard drive? With the prices of very large hard drive and RAID arrays going down, I would like to ditch my DVD recorder and have everything on a hard drive. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

The hard drive in the 510 is as large as it can get. Replacing a hard drive in these is not like a computer. It has to be a specific kind of hard drive and then mated to the machine.

So, in that case, would I be able to connect a computer to the 510 and download all of my saved programs to that I can record more?

Actually, you can simply dump them to your hard drive in your computer and store them there if you like. Just take the Video/audio outs from the 510 to a tuner card (I use this: http://www.hauppauge.com/pages/products/data_pvr150.html) and record off the line inputs of the card. When the drive(s) in the computer get full dump programs you want to save to a dvd. If you have an off air antenna or cable line coming into the house you can also hook that up and record from those sources. Enjoy.
