All combined, I saved $550 = $240 AAA, $240 Qwest, $20 paperless, $50 referral.
AAA gives you $10 off each month for 2 years. You have to call this number to get the AAA deal: 800-242-9114. If you want to join AAA call 1-866-359-4222 to get $17 off. You can get the $17 enrollment fee wiaved in Utah (and maybe Northern California and Nevada since they are in the same AAA region) at www.aaa.com with promo code "JAZZ0708". PM me if you want to use my AAA membership number in this AAA region. If not, $52 for $240 savings isn't a bad investment!
What you get is explained at http://www.AAA.com/directv Go to AAA.com home page (will redirect to local club for your area, may ask for your ZIP code), then click link under "Savings >> Services").
Use another person's DirecTV account # (mine is 81294689) to save an additional $50 (5 months, $10 per month) and the person who referred you will also get $50.
They charged me $99 for HD DVR (some have gotten it for free) and gave me standard DVR free, plus free install and shipping.
You can get the Premier Package for $56.99 which includes all the premium movie channels (HBO, Cinemax, Showtime and Starz with all HD movies in 1080i), the Sports Pack ($12 mo), and the NFL Sunday Ticket ($289.95 value) for 4 months. Or you can do what I did and get the HD DVR Plus package @ $54.99 and get the Showtime free for 6 months (others have gotten Showtime or the Sports Pack for 1 year ) + a one time $20 credit for signing up to the "Go Green" paperless billing (in competition with Dish Network's 1 cent Cinemax promo for going paperless). If you do go with the premium package you can downgrade after the 4 month offer is over and still get $18 off whatever package you choose to downgrade to.
AFTER your installation, if you have phone service through Qwest you can call them and get a $10 discount EACH MONTH if you bundle with DirecTV. That means your DirecTV will be billed by Qwest. Other phone companies in other areas are offering you similar bundles. Qwest gives you $5-17 off, depending on what you have.I actually saved $10 month on my phone charges in addition to the $10 off of my DirecTV bill.
Also, Verizon has been included in the Qwest family just recently. This will contribute towards a further BUNDLE DISCOUNT!!
That was my deal and was the best I could do after all my research. Every little bit helps. If anyone wants to share their deal or if I missed something, please share for everyone's sake.
My DTV bill should work out like this:
+72.99 for the Plus HD DVR package
-18 for 1 year (makes it 54.99)
-10 AAA account for 2 years
-10 referral discount for 5 months
-10 Qwest bundle, forever = as long as I have DirecTV bundled
0 showtime (or Sports Pack) 6 months
0 starz & encore 3 months
0 primary leased receiver
+4.99 extra receiver
Total $29.98
Feel free to PM me with questions.
Good luck,
Lynn
