Seems like there is a lot of 1080p TVs coming out. How soon do you think before Dish comes out with a replacement for the 622?

Considering the poor HDMI design, I would think it may make sense for them to come out with a revamped model that corrects the HDMI defect and that transmits 1080p.

What has history shown as far as time between models?

What would be the point? There are no 1080p broadcasts and won't be for a long time.

It would be nice to have a native pass through option though.

Why is the HDMI poor and what defects does it have since it just transmits the digital signal "as is" (except for up scaling of 480, 720, and 1440x1080).

I was talking about the poor HDMI hardware design where it breaks if you breath on the connector too hard. I am on my third one. I would imagine there will be a redesign, but perhaps it will just be on the 622 itself.

My guess is that we won't see one for another year or two.

My hope however would be dual High Def output. Many of the enhancements people have been asking for (external Hard Drive support, native pass through) can be available on the 622 with a firmware update. However Dual (independent) High Def output cannot be available on the current hardware.

So in at least a year I wouldn't be surprised if we see a new receiver with independent dual hd output, and a larger hard drive. I only have one HDTV right now, but I am sure when my second TV dies it will be an HDTV that replaces it, and I would rather not have to have two independent receivers that cannot share content.

Actually HDMI connector is a poor design as compared to the sturdier DVI connector. HDMI.org recognizes this and is working on a backwards compatible fix for new connectors.

I have a DLP 62" 1080 P and a 32" lcd 720P. The large screen is connected with HDMI and the other HDMI from my 942. I cannot imagine any better picture than what I get with the hdmi cable hookup. I have never had one minuite's trouble with hdmi. Like others have said there is no content to input into a 1080P. I bought mine hoping I would be ready in the future.

Lets just say there is not MUCH 1080p content at the moment....
If you pick up a Blue Ray or HD DVD player you'll have some.

Like they say, If you build it they will come...... (hopefully)

...or if you have a iScan VP50 scaler and a display that can accept and display at 24Hz (or multiples) you can have the exact original 1080p 24fps reconstructed from a 1080i 60Hz film source.:D Plus the added benefit of no judder.;)
