Is it necessary to attach the UHF remote antenna to a 622 if I do not plan to use the UHF remote. I will use the IFR remote instead, because I plan to operate the 622 in single mode and use a seperator. Thanks for any info.

Not necessary, but if you misplace the #1 remote you could use the #2 UHF remote until the #1 is located.

Also, attaching it to the back of the receiver is a good place to store it so it will not get lost.

I attached mine to the antenna port to use as a quick 'n dirty OTA antenna to pull in several local channels
