Anyone here tried both the HR20 and Dish 622? I saw the reviews at CNET, but would like to hear from someone who's experienced both. I've been with D* for some time, and currently have two SD DTIVOs.

From what I can glean from the boards for the HR20 and Dish 622, both have had teething pains to one degree or another. The only essential difference of the DVR capabilities I'm aware of is the 622's ability to take an antenna in from an HD antenna to allow recording of "over the air" HD transmissions from your local HD stations AND a true 30-second skip (as opposed to slip). Anyone have a comparision between the two?

I feel the 622 is miles ahead until the HR20 gets OTA turned on. When it does get turned on, things may be a little closer, but i still feel the 622 is ahead. Dont forget that the hr20 can only record 2 things at once once the ota is active, while the 622 can do 3. The major advantage that i see for the hr20 right now is external storage. If you plan on archiving any HD content, then you will need more space, and you could easily do a 1tb external drive, which would blow away the 622's ~300gb.
Do you archive from your 622 to DVD? Using the component outputs? I assume you can do that at the same time you have an HDMI output connected to your HDTV?

I dont personally, although i think it is possible. Call me spoiled, but i only wish to archive stuff in HD, so archiving SD stuff has no value to me. :D
I had understood that there was no way currently to archive digital content due to copy protections. Is there a way to copy from a digitial output?
