I bought a used 721 several months ago and it has worked flawlessly until the past couple weeks. I'm getting a black screen that will flash for a few seconds that says "Acquiring Signal, SmartCard #...., Receiver #...., Input 2". The picture is sometimes pixelated also. Input 1 seems to be okay for the most part, although I've noticed a few horizontal lines running across the screen as of late. Is the 721 going to need a replacement soon? We really like this receiver (and no DVR fees) so I hate to get a different one. :nono2:

24 begins this Sunday and the last thing I need is the thing taking a crap in the middle of Jack saving the world!!!! I have my old 301 & 508 boxes still, so I can hook them up as a replacement-FYI.

I've experienced a similar problem as you recently w/o pixel or smart card numbers on screen....it just gives me the green "Acquiring Signal" problem. Then I typically do a hard reboot several times. For whatever reason, eventually it either just works or if I leave it off for 15-20 minutes it will work again.

I've called E* support and they want to replace the box. With only 15 hours left, I don't want to lose all that programming and for the most part my 721 works well.

Hard Reboot: Unplug power cord, wait 30 seconds, plug in power cord.
Soft Reboot: Hold down "Power" button on receiver for 10-20 seconds and then release.

Who did your install? I would check the connections in the back to make sure they are tight. I had that problem when Dish sent out installers/contractors that didn't know which end of a wrench to use, and the fittings would easily pull off. I rewired myself, and don't have this problem any longer.

The state contractor exams are not extremely difficult.
