721 question: how exactly to reboot?

So what exactly is the procedure to reboot the machine using the front-panel power button? Should the unit be on or off when you do this? Do you hold in the power button until the green light comes on, or until it *flashes*? Has anyone ever seen that red light come on while holding it down (the manual actually does say to hold it down until both the red and green lights come on...)

I've tried combinations of this, and no matter what I try, I never get any light coming on when I'm holding the button down. Also, once it reboots, should the unit end up on or off? I see it go through the "initializing screen" with the Dish logo, then I see a message box saying it's rebooting, but then the unit just powers back off. I then end up having to power it on with the remote, before I get a picture. Is this normal?

Thanks for the help; the info I got from Adv Tech Support the other night looks like it may not be completely accurate...

Have it on (or at least that is the way I do it) and press the power button down for around 6-7 seconds and you should hear a noise come out of the machine if you listen closely. That should do it. It usually takes 30 seconds for the green light to begin flashing.
And it should fix some, if not all, of the problems you might be having!
I wonder how come the red button does not come on after you depress it for the correct amount of time like the 501 does so that it tells you that it is starting to reboot?
