I've had the same problem with my HR21 and usually just checking sat signals or changing channels makes it go away.litzdog911 said:

771 error with perfect reception
here's a good one. right now both my hr20-100s units are recording on both tuners. both units reporting 771 error on tuner 2. all 4 recordings are perfect and there is no issue.
all 4 recordings are hd, all my 103c readings are 94 and higher.
going to reboot and see if that fixes it.
this gets old.
