771 searching for signal on sat in 2

I've been having this problem with an hr20-100 for a while. I also have an hr20-700 and hr10 that never have problems. It's always sat in 2 regardless if I switch cables. I even tried an SWM-8 to see if that would help and it didn't. So I know it's not the switch or cable from the switch. Could it still be the LNB, grounding block or cabling? Or, is it probably the box?

I had this problem. Repair person came out. Wanted to replace all the RG6 cable under the house, with no capability of fixing up walls he had to bust open.

I declined (loudly) since the thing HAD been working for years just fine with the existing cabling. Suggested that he replace LNB unit, multiswitch, and receiver. Although he was incapable of rational thought to try and determine WHICH of these three could be the problem, I forced him to do it in a rational manner. It turned out that the multiswitch was definitely the problem. Even though it was only a year old, replacing it with a new one immediately fixed that particular problem. Just a thought.

I already swapped out the multiswitch for an SWM and problem still occurs.
I have been having this problem also. done everything. swapping receivers fixed it for about a week. I made a post a little while ago here it explains everything and shows my signal no. also. The post is pxilation now/771 before
If you have had this receiver and HD setup for a year or two. You might want to try redoing you satellite setup on your receiver. I was having the same issue and tried everything to fix it and nothing work. Someone suggested doing this and I have been good for about 2 weeks now. It's might be worth a try.

I've done that many times. Directv is coming out (for second time) tomorrow so I've switched back to multiswitch.

Can someone explain to me how this would only ever affect this one input on this one receiver on both a multiswitch and SWM and not be a receiver problem? I'm not saying it can't. But, I would like to understand how this stuff works with regards to signals.
I've been poo poohed about this, but I cant deny the results....an external cooling fan lowered my internal temp from 97 to 86 degreees & it solved all my tuner 2 dropouts. Its been 3 weeks now & not a single tuner 2 dropout.
And.....disconnecting the unit from my network cleared up all my breakup/ pixelization during playback issues.
Try it & see what happens.
Had this this morning on the HR20-100 in the bedroom. Have an HR20-700 in the living room and had no problems at all. Went in to the menu and did a restart and everything is working fine now. Have not had that problem before this.
