So I'd been looking forward to watching the 24 car at Bristol this weekend after not seeing him on a dedicated driver channel over the past few weeks. He was scheduled to be a featured driver and was still showing in the guide as having a dedicated driver channel earlier this week. Even in the featured hotpass drivers email I received from D* on 8/21, though at the bottom it now shows Edwards, the first paragraph lists Gordon as being one of the four featured drivers.

Anyone know why the 24 car was dropped at the very last moment? I know Jeff and the 24 team are sometimes quirky about when they do and don't want to be shown, but they obviously initially agreed to be shown at Bristol, so I kind of doubt that's the reason. It's not like his debacles in the last two races were related to cameras in his car, as he didn't have a dedicated channel in either race.....

I would say it's quite likely that the team decided to remove itself at the last moment. It's highly unlikely the production company is going to spend the time, money and effort to setup and promote the Gordon inclusion and then drop it at the last minute just on a whim...and as you said, Gordon has been flaky about it in the past.

Hey, don't feel bad. I was looking forward to seeing Jeffie's dedicated channel, battling it out to the finish with Smoke at Bristol. :) Of course in my world, Smoke will be the winner, Jeffie coming in 2nd .;) ;)

paint boy should hope he would finish second behind smoke. paint boy might have 4 sprint cup championships but smoke could drive the wheels off a little red wagon if he had the chance. guy has won an IRL championship, midget car championship and 2 sprint cup championships. no comparison, but then i have 2 tony stewart cardboard standups in my house too!!

I noticed the change in lineup on Thursday. I have a feeling the 24 team just didn't want to deal with the Hotpass people putting cameras in the car this week. After the past couple of weeks they surely don't need any distractions.

This still sucks because I was really looking forward to Gordon Hotpass this week.

Me, too. Now I'm wondering whether he'll be on next week as scheduled. Here's hoping the 24 has a little luck tonight, or else I fear he won't be on next week either.

He'll be running the Pepsi scheme next week. Pepsi always pays to have cameras.:) The car should be good. He ran very well there in February and actually had a top 5 car at MIS until the pit crew caused him to fall back into the pack where all the trouble ensued with the 48 and 20.

In the early HotPass days they had #24 on several times and never had any in-car shots. I wrote and they said that the in-car cameras had not been allowed by the driver. I told them that if a driver won't let the cameras in the car to deliver the "ride shotgun" view then they shouldn't be a featured driver. This happened several races with him and it got really irritating that one of the 5 channels was wasted with no in-car shots - other than those from the cars in front of or behind his. Finally he gave approval and some in-car shots showed up in most of the later races - one of the main reasons to have HotPass.

I wonder if they had a technical issue or maybe they've decided now in the year of just 4 drivers and the national feed with radio feeds to just drop a driver if he doesn't approve the in-car cameras.

So you'd rather watch the driver steer the car than show racing action? And then you wrote in to complain about it? That's a great way to make it so Jeff gets no channel at all. Good thinking.:nono2:

And what about Smoke? Now ya'll know how we feel. He has had the in car camera and still doesn't get a dedicated channel any more. The only upswing is that Smoke has an audio channel every race that finally seems to be working the way it was meant to work. Clear transmissions and lack of censorship is what we get. ;)
