Last I knew, Dish was offering $25 credit for a returned receiver, regardless of type, for a trade-in. You might do better selling your 811 on ebay to a Canadian.
The "secret number" I always use is to select "Tech Support" and "HD" when I call the automated system. That always gives me someone knowledgeable.
