On tonight's Miami Heat basketball game on channel 96 (spot beam HD using MPEG4) the 8mm effect is finaly gone! YAY!

HOWEVER, there is something else going on that maybe DirecTV doesn't know about yet. It seems like the encoding equipment/software still needs some updating as, ocassionally, the screen will flicker for like 1/2 second. This is not anywhere near as bad as it used to be since, at least, the motion does appear to be smooth.

This flickering happens every 10 or so seconds (it looks they way that wiggling a poorly connected coaxial cable carring an analog signal would).

Is anyone else watching the Miami Heat game on channel 96? If so, are you noticing this?

Don't get me wrong...this is not really a complaint since, believe it or not, it actually looks much better than the Comcast HD signal that I get for the same channel (colors appear brighter). But it is noticeable.

P.S. The 8mm effect is still VERY noticeable on the NBC Sunday Night Football game. Apparently they have not yet tackled the local channels.
