Hi,

I'm concerned that my 99c and 103c signal strenghts, while usable (at least during good weather) are not where they should be. Are these levels typical? Should I ask for dish realignment? If so, I'd appreciate any tips on how to get a tech that knows how to tweak for these new birds. When I asked for the dish to be realigned previously, they just peaked it again for 110 and 119 which made almost no difference.

Unfortunately, no. It is on my roof at a point that is effectively 3 floors off the ground. I don't have a ladder that tall and, if I did, I'd be afraid to use it .

I really wish I could work on it myself, but probably not practical to try.

My advice would be to hold off unless you are actually losing signal. I got mine re-aligned because when it rained I would lose signal on the 99(c) satellite but everything else was fine.

If you do get it re-aligned just be sure to tell the tech to check the 99 satellite. My tech tried to tell me that that satellite isn't used but I insisted that it is.

How previously? If that was within the last 90 days, you should get them back there at no additional charge. Otherwise, it's $80. You have some 99(c) tp's in the 60's, below DirecTV minimums of 70. You will experience rain fade earlier and longer with those signals, but they should be OK in clear weather.

Mine is easy to get to and I'm considering tweaking it, the 99c and 103c numbers are all in the 70's and 80's on mine and rain fade happens quite often.

Are there some good directions somewhere on tweaking?

I had the exact same problem - the guy told me that 99c was used for "special channels" and wouldn't effect me. I am getting even worse signal strength (in the 50s to 60s). But he did aim 101 well.

Do I call Directv or the local sat company that sent him out - I want someone (hopefully not the same guy who was clueless) to do the job correctly.

I want to aim it myself but don't have a ladder and live in an apartment.
