I called DTV customer service about an issue and while talking to the rep I asked about the slow response time of the receivers after the new HDGUI software downloads. She transferred me to their Tech Support Group and the tech recognized the issue and had me turn off Scrolling Effects. It seems to help speed things up. To do this, go to Menu, Settings, Display, Preferences, Scrolling Effects; set to Off. Hope this helps

Streamlining memory? Or is this clearing nvram?

To clear the nvram(if it hasnt been said already) go to channel 1 and then hit red red blue blue yellow green in a pretty fast sequence and that will speed it up for a little while. I usually do this on mine about once a month to keep them somewhat responsive.
