One of my receivers has a card that is showing Invalid Access Card, error 762. Narrowed it down and am sure the card is the issue.

I have a different billing and service address. Does any one know if Directv will ship the card to the billing address rather than the service or even to my office?

I believe they will usually only ship it to the billing or service address. That way there is no doubt that someone associated with the account is receiving it.

They will but you have to ask them to do it... at least twice. Kind of a pain.

Fex-Ex Home Delivery usually handles all of the DTV drop ships.
yeah but i think that when i got my access card i got it thru ups, i would need to verify that. did you call directv to get it shipped to your p.o. box or fedex?

The cards now ship via USPS express mail. DirecTV will send only to service address or alternate address already on account (billing address if different from service address). The access card order computer is set up to send to service address. So, order must be manually overrided by CSR. They don't usually get it to work, unless you have experienced CSR who knows the process. I think it is also reviewed by supervisor. My personal experience in ordering took three attempts to get it right. Each card was sent via USPS from Canada. You can track after order is placed with USPS tracking.

Hope that helps.

DirecTV will ship cards to the account address or to a preregistered secondary address assuming, the address isn't "to far" north.

I have always wondered what the purpose is of the access card. Why can't they authorize a receiver strictly on the Receiver ID?
All the decryption is in the card, so if it gets compromised, like it had been in the past, they can simply replace just the access card instead of 20 million receivers.

Dish for a while, was building the access card right into the reciever, and we see how well that worked for them. Aat least the had the foresight to include an access card slot that can turn on later.
