Question for everyone - I currently have a HR-21 in one room, and a SD-TiVo in another.

I want to swap out the SD-TiVo for another HR-21, but I've only got one cable going from the dish to the room.

I really don't care about having the 2nd tuner active, will the HR-21 work with only one tuner connected to my dish (yes, I understand I won't be able to watch one channel while recording the other).

If I do want to have both tuners active, is there any solution yet for multiplexing the signal from the dish onto the single cable so I can split it back out at the receiver? My dish is a 5LMB slimline.

Yes the HR21 will work with only one line.

You could add a SWM8 and than you would only need one line to each HR21 to use both tuners. You would need to connect the 4 lines from the dish to it and than connect one line to each unit. There is also a power supply that needs to be connected in line with the line coming from SWM1 output. The SWM can be installed outside if you want but the power supply needs to be inside.

Thanks for the responses. The SWM8 sounds perfect, except that the wiring in my house is all pulled outside, there's no inside box, so I'd have no way to get power to the thing.

I really should have pulled the wiring inside before I had my basement finished. Doh!

The swm8 (and the slimline) can be mounted outside.. With the correct splitter the power inserter can be placed behind one or your recievers..

SWM is cool :)

BTW, the HR20 or HR21 with AM21 are wonderful in that even if you only have one satellite input, you still can use both OTA tuners or one sat and one OTA simultaneously. Woohoo!

Cheers,

Tom, that's exactly what I'm doing. Until I go SWM, I have only one Sat line available to my HR21/AM21, BUT, I do have an OTA antenna connection, so I get 2 OTA tuners and one Sat tuner, which is just fine for now.

As you said, the HR21 will run just fine with one Sat line.
