I ordered a wireless CCK because it was free. I have 1 HR34 and 4 H25s right now in my current set up. I previously hooked up my HR34 to my network directly just by using the ethernet port since I have cat5 cables routed throughout my house. I daisy chained a router into that room and I can't fit all my devices into it so I want to connect my HR34 wirelessly to my network using the CCK. When I install the wireless CCK my whole home dvr service loses connection intermittently. I've reset all boxes numerous times to no avail. Is there any reason why adding the wireless CCK would cause this problem? When I use a wired connection I have no problems at all.

To clarify a step you did in face remove the ethernet cable before hooking up the wCCK right? I'm not sure what you mean by daisy chained as ethernet isn't setup this way and the 34 doesn't have 2 ports.

WHDVR has nothing to do with the internet so it's going to be a signal issue. Do you have the wCCK hooked up through the coax or did you use the ethernet port?

Yeah I completely disconnected the hard line from my network. The wCCK is connected solely by coaxial in between my HR34 and SWM. I have internet on all my receivers and everything works fine for like 30 minutes until my receivers whine about my HR34 being disconnected and losing the playlist. When I use my HR34 as an internet bridge instead of the wCCK it works fine.

Try not using the coax and just use the wCCK to the ethernet port.

Since the ethernet wires are run to the router already, couldn't you add an 8 port Switch and plug all of the receivers into the switch ? This would keep it hard wired like you started out.

The H25s do not have an ethernet port and are DECA only. In order to get Internet to the receivers, the OP needs to use the HR34 as a bridge via an Ethernet cable to a router or has to use a CCK.

I just hooked it up this way and it seems to be working. I did not know you could bridge this way as well. I think this will get around my problem since it's bridging the internet through the HR34 and not through the wCCK. I'll report back to let you guys know for sure.

Glad that you got something working, but aren't you still bridging through the WCCK?
What it seems is different is you're not now using the coax network connection from the HR34 to the WCCK, and ethernet instead.

It's bridging through the HR34 from what I can see. The network indicator light is off on the wCCK.

Unfortunately I spoke to soon. It did not work. I'm still losing whole home dvr service every so often when the wCCK is attached to my HR34. Could this possibly be a bug or something?

"or something" I'll give you.

Maybe you can make a setup drawing?

Crude is OK, but a more complete drawing of your setup might be helpful.

Your current connection didn't really change anything [which you found out].

What's the length of coax between the PI and the 34's input?

You might want to go back to the PI -> WCCK -> HR34 [without the ethernet connection].

Another thing to look at is if the router is causing this.

To check:

Pull the power on the WCCK, reboot each receiver so they change from the router's DHCP IP address to their internal 169.xxx addresses.

Of course you won't have internet access but you can see if whole home stabilizes.

Reading your first post again, sounds like you do have a router WiFi problem.

Maybe more information about models would help.

I would say the length of the cable between the PI and HR34 is around 4 ft.

When I do remove the WCCK the whole home stabilizes even without resetting all the receivers back to their internal addresses. When I do have the WCCK connected, the whole home service has been consistently dropping around 30 minutes of connection.

The short coax between the PI & 34 "may cause" problems, so if the WCCK was between the two it would help, as it has some internal loss that helps.

I'm not a router expert, so I'm not the best help for changes/settings to make.

"I do know" some routers just don't "play nice" with WiFi CCK and do work well with a ethernet connected CCK.

I've tried a number of things since my last post and it's still causing problems. I tried connecting to the router without using WPS. I tried using a different router. I tried connecting it to a different receiver. Either my CCK-W is faulty or there is a bug with the HR34. I guess I'm just going to give them a call later on this week and see what they have to say. At least it is working correctly when bridged through the HR34 directly.

I believe I have found a fix for my problem. Assigning a static IP to all my receivers including the CCK-W itself seems to have fixed the problem. There seems to be an issue in the way the CCK-W handles DHCP. I'll report back after a few days of use for confirmation but we've been able to watch many recordings for the pass few hours uninterrupted so it seems to be working correctly now.

Sounds great.

It really isn't the CCK-W, but how the router handles the DHCP lease times for WiFi.

"Fortunately" my 2Wire router "likes" my CCK-W and I use DHCP on everything.

I have numerous wireless devices connecting to the same router with DHCP and they have no connectivity issues. I'm pretty sure it's an issue specific to CCK-W but either way I'm happy the issue is fixed now.
