Adding more disk space

918 Views 10 Replies 8 Participants Last post by  inkahauts
I currently have a 750GB drive in an Antec MX-1 case and because the wife recorded the olympics the drive is now full. She won't let me delete anything. What are my options in terms of adding more disk space? Ideally I would like to add more disk space and still be able to watch all the olympics recordings without having to swap drives.

Can't add more space without removing your current drive..

I know I'm begging for it here, but I am curious, why not ask her to hurry up and watch it since its already over and everyone knows who won what so that you can free it up... How long does she want to keep the recordings for?

And there is always option C... But I can't really recommend accidentally erasing a HD... That would be wrong...
another option is to purchase a DVD recorder, put it inline and dump the Olympics to a DVD

True

Wife will not let him delete, drive is full - only option is dump it to dvd to free up space, nothing will be lost
There are some instructions on the site for copying the stuff to a larger HD so you could get a 1tb disk and copy all your recordings to the new drive and end up with some new free space.

I think I just saw one of your testicles roll under the coffee table.
That's why my wife has her own :)
I'm with you guys... if you know the outcome why keep the recording? She wants to keep it indefinately. Looks like my best option is to buy a bigger drive and copy everything over to the new drive.

I've seen enclosures that can hold multiple drives... has anyone tried one of these?

TomCat... are you sure you just saw one roll under the coffee table? I'm missing both!
Indefinetly? Why? I guess I'll never fully understand women... :D

Actually, there is no need to copy them over... Just plug in an external eSata and your set.... When she finally decides to watch the olympics, then she can simply unplug the esata and reboot the machine, and she will be back on the internal drive with all her recordings...

Or, ah, maybe she should just by the dvd of the games... There are several that are already out... And I still say that your house could easily suffer a fatal electrical outage that wipes out the drive, say tomorrow at 5:30?
