While I have not found the need to use Boolean searches to this point...this is a very well-done FAQ Guide and presented in an easy-to-understand format.

It is done well enough that I intend to print it out and read it. You can teach most old dogs new tricks. :D

Kudos to the authors, contributors, and aggregator of the document itself.

I like to record old 30's & 40's mysteries. E.g. Charlie Chan, Boston Blackie, Bulldog Drummond, Mr. Moto, etc.

Will there be a DDATE for date made range? E.g 1930 1949 that would limit to between those years.

Who knows. That has been asked for before, but we have never seen anyway to narrow down something like that. All other terms have simply allowed us to be more specific on what we where searching for based on things you could already search for. I have never seen us able to search based on date.

I am trying to record Angels games that are only on the RSN's that I get and ESPN, MLB Network and Fox. This is what my syntax looks like:

AALL ANGELS EVENTS CCHANS 2 700

I want to specify & SPORTS & BASEBALL but cannot find the & symbol to enter.
I do not want it to record RSN's I do not get locally (I.e. 692 Fox Sports West).

How can I use CCHANS to record only the channels I get?

Any other help on setting tis up would be great.

Thanks in advance.

First, the & is not something you enter into the search field. It's the category filters you choose after you tell the machine to do a keyword search. Once you hit that red button, it takes you to another screen to narrow the categories, and you can choose sports, and then it will populate the right could and let you choose baseball.

So for example, enter in "aall Lakers events" and then press the red button to take to the next screen, and then choose sports, and then the next column would come up and then you'd choose the right sport, basketball in this case. The & is actually created by the DVR, not you, and you only see it on the actual search results screen, or the series manager list.

As for your specific request...

MLB network does not have a single game that I have ever seen that isn't also on another channel. And often times games in that channel are blacked out for us so that you will watch the local station. To really make sure it records right, it's going to take more than one arsl. You can do with just one, however, I can't guarantee game search will work 100% of the time because of the cig issues.

Here are the arsl that I have created for myself and work excellent. Remember, where they fall in your series manager list will also have an effect on if they get recorded live, or a rebroadcast due to conflicts. The higher the priority, the more often they will be recorded live.

AALL ANGELS EVENTS CCHANS 2 69 & Sports & Baseball

AALL ANGELS EVENTS CCHANS 692 693 & Sports & Baseball

AALL ANGELS EVENTS CCHANS 206 209 & Sports & Baseball

AALL ANGELS EVENTS CCHANS 245 250 & Sports & Baseball

Let us know if you have any more question or if anything doesn't make sense!

One big key thing of note is that they have changed the CCHAN to CCHANS so everyone basically needs to go through and change all their ARSLs that use that term...
Is this change already in effect? Are old ARSLs "grandfathered" in?
I noticed that other than the 2011 copyright date in the footer of the pdf, there is no other date stamp.

I've MANY ARSL's on 2 DVRs both running 05cd, yet my ARSLs with CCHAN (not CCHANS) are still functioning, although most of my ARSLs are for a single channel. I've only a few that are across a range of channels, but I am SURE that at least one of them works as it has been picking up the baseball games up and down the dial.

I asked the same question about what is going to happen with the CCHAN modifier, and was told, it may work now, but it will likely be deprecated at some point, so it's best to slowly go through and replace them now, rather than waiting till they stop working IMHO. You could miss a game or two before you realize it if your like me and use them to record all your sports. I'd say you do have some time though... :)

Did the keyword search length limit get raised back to its former limit? I had been holding out redoing any of my ARSL's because many of them were longer than the character limit, so I couldnt redo them in a single ARSL.
