Just a quick question. A friend of mine (who has dish network) tells me that after your 2 year contract with them, you can retain your receiver and dish to keep for yourself. I find that hard to believe, but he says it's true. Is it? I always thought if you give up your sub, you give up your equipment. Thanks in advance for any feedback. Surfdude:confused:

DISH seems to be confused at times. I leased a 942 long ago, and they seem to believe it is mine. Despite my telling them I had the statement in my hands that shows it was leased, they still believed it was mine.

Ultimately, they seemed not to care, or to track their equipment very well.

I've had similar problems with owned equipment that I sold or traded in. I'll tell Dish I've sold the receiver but they don't take it off my account. It sits there listed as inactive. I think they did finally get the Model 3000 off my records. Not sure about the Model 300 and Model 6000 I sold in the last 2 years.

"At times"? I have to disagree with that. I've never talked to anyone at Dish that wasn't confused.

I have a 722 I bought a couple weeks ago and they are charging me a lease fee.

Lease fee and/or DVR fee?
If the question is directed at me, both, plus the $50 upgrade. I made the mistake of asking about a lease for my RV. They told me I couldn't do that but shipped one and started charging me a lease fee anyway, the day after I bought one elsewhere. I have long since refused the shipment and its been returned and signed for by Dish.

I gave up on phone calls (after 14) and sent certified mail yesterday.

They've replaced your 942 with a ViP622, haven't they?
