2 nights in a row around 3:40 am, my HR-21 has started making an "Alarm Chime", a repeating alert of some kind that has awaken me. GRRRRRR! What the hell is this? I cannot find a setting for any type of alarm on the the receiver. Any help?

It shouldn't be an actual alarm. What does it sound like? Does it sound like it's going in 'circles'?

There is not an alarm clock on the HR series receivers. How long does it last and are you 100% sure it is the receiver?

LOL. I'm going to hurt my wife. The receiver is on a dresser right below a mounted TV and she decides to put an old cell phone in the top drawer. She forgot to turn it off and the alarm was set to go off. LOL. As I'm fumbling around in the dark the last 2 nights trying to push buttons on the receiver, she snores away. I just found the damn cell phone. I call her and she is laughing away....I'm pissed at the interrupted sleep.....GRRRRR.

Well...i have had problems with the DVR, and directv is fighting me on a replacement. Im going to do a complete wipe before they will do it (have to watch recorded shows). It has a bad fan which is causing freezes.

But anyway...blame being half asleep and not know the old cell phone was in the dresser for the assumption. :sure:

Years ago, my ex-wife had a job that required that she carry a beeper. One evening we kept hearing a loud buzzing noise that we couldn't identify or locate. Finally we noticed that she had set the beeper down on our piano and the sound board was reflecting and amplifying the buzzing sound.

That has to be one old ass phone. I'm lucky to get a day of charge out of my phone, let alone 2 even with no use.

Don't feel too bad I was sent a recording of a call once where a customer was thinking his remote was beeping at him to change the batteries and it was a smoke detector.

We used to have an alarm clock that looked like a piano. When you played it, the keys would even move. (It played Ode to Joy by Beethoven). We never used it; it was basically just decor. My son who was about 5 at the time apparently pushed some buttons on the thing. It goes off at 3:30 AM; I start hitting the button on my alarm to no effect and my wife grabs the phone and starts saying hello, hello but of course no one is there. We soon realize where the music is coming from and I stumble across the room and turn it off.

We moved the Piano to a higher place next morning.

:lol: This thread sort of reminds me of something I posted over 2 years ago :lol:

This brings up a little funny story...when my son was born in January of this year, I took 3 weeks off to help my wife at home...well during that time, I decided to take some cat5 cable and get up in the attic and hook up our bedroom DVR so we could utilize MRV, did it no problem, but later that night, my wife woke me up frantically saying the DVR was on fire!!!!! I JUMPED out of bed ready to grab the fire extinguisher and she pointed to the back of the DVR where the red and orange lights were flickering :lol::lol::lol: I had to decide whether to be mad she woke me up and almost gave me a heart attack or laugh my butt off :lol::lol:
