What receiver can be used to align a 5LNB slimline? Can I use an R15? I don't have a HR20 or HR21 yet. I really don't want to spend the $ for a meter unless I really have to.

I have installed every dish I've had (Dish and Directv) so I'm fairly confident I can tweak it. I just don't know if the software in the R15 has an option for 5LNB dish or do I use the 3LNB setup to do it?

thanks,

bill

It only has the option for 3LNB afaik. You can use those but don't use the 3LNB pointing directions since they are centered for 110 while the ka/ku dishes are centered around the 101.

ok I went to dishpointer.com and put in my address and got this info:

Your Location
Latitude: 43.1737°
Longitude: -76.2626°

Satellite Data
Name: DirecTV 5 LNB (99, 101, 103, 110, 119W)
Distance: 38242km

Dish Setup Data
Elevation: 34.3°
Azimuth (true): 213.9°
Azimuth (magn.): 226.6°
Dish Skew: 66.0°

Dumb question....which Azimuth do I use? true or magnetic

thanks,

bill
