All HD locals in Charlotte NC gone

854 Views 10 Replies 6 Participants Last post by  ActiveHDdave
Weird, they were working as of 1 p.m. but at 4 p.m. I put on my local CBS station and the screen was blank. No 771's, no searching for signal. Same for my other locals.

I called Directv, we re-set twice, but no go. They're sending out a tech on Wednesday, no charge. Just wondering if anybody else in the N.C. Charlotte area is experiencing the same thing or did my equipment crap out, i.e. the receiver, my LNB... The CSR said whatever the problem is the tech will repair it no charge as far as a new receiver or dish.

Anyway, anybody else or is it just me?

SD locals okay? If so, BBCs may be the cause since HD locals are MPEG4.
Thanks. You'd think the CSR would have known that. So could it be temporary? The problem, that is. The CSR had me check signal strength and if I remember, I was getting n/a's across the board on that satellite. I've got a 5 LNB and an H20-100. BBC's been working no problem since day 1.

Outage for the move should only be temporary. However, you should be seeing other signal strength readings from nearby spots. BBC's could have failed but then you would not have any Mpeg4 channels.

What are your readings on the 99 and 103 sats. Also, what sat was your locals previously on?
I've got everything except my locals working fine. Haven't checked the locals in 2 hours. They might be back. Hold on. Yep. They're back :)

Glad the problem was resolved. :)
Noticed mine were gone around 4pm. Checked several things on both HR20s and called dTV. . . CSR mentioned that my locals were on 99 -- which I was unaware. She went through several gyrations of reseting the dvr and resetting the account stuff.

Nothing changed so she scheduled a tech and thanked me for my loyal time as a customer.

10 minutes later things were fine other than a couple of short interruptions.

My 99 readings are much lower than they have been. . . in the 70s so it's time for tweaking?
Holy Moly!
I just saw this thread... I posted in the HD forum a while ago about this..

I called them and she basically told me that I needed a new HDMI cable!
She even gave me a 70$ credit for 7 months and told me to go to BB and buy one.
And now I find out that the Charlotte area lost HD!

This is just too funny.... I now have a brand new 70$ HDMI cable that Dtv is paying for.
Enjoy the credit but don't buy the EXPENSIVE cable at BB! Check out www.monoprice.com or the BlueJeans ad above.
Just the banks are going ....going.... gone.
