For the second time in a couple of weeks, yet another software update...While I'm watching tv. Pause. Step out of the room for a minute, come back, and it's doing a reboot for the next 20 minutes. Thanks dtv. Hey, I have an idea. Why don't you get some software engineers that can get it right the first time.

Software downloads aren't just for fixes they are also to add additional features for your viewing pleasure. However there could be some improvements in how the software is released. Better beta test processes.

Are you certain that it is updating the software and not simply spontaneously rebooting?
My HR20-700 used to do what you're describing and I thought it was updating too. It wasn't.

Others here can tell you how to check your software version. I've been away from it for so long that I can't immediately recall the process.

I don't think you're getting updates. First off updates happen very early in the morning, around 3am to 6am, and second if by chance you're watching TV when an update is sent you get a message on screen asking if you want to download the update. That message will stay there for 2 minutes or so before automatically getting the download. If you were only gone for a minute the message wouldn't have had time to timeout.

When you actually explain what happened instead of posting and ducking, we'll be here...your posting history is pretty legendary for complaining. I suspect you have a problem receiver and nothing more. My HR2x DVR receivers have probably rebooted two or three times this entire year for software updates...if yours are rebooting more than that its not software updates.

It could be a problem receiver. It could be a normal update. You did post past 2 am Pacific Time.

Prime time updates are very rare. DirecTV did this a couple years ago and this forum lit up like a Christmas tree.
