When I went to turn on our system I noticed the lights on one of the HR20's was spinning and never finished loading. I reset it and after loading all of the recordings and everything on the external drive are now gone and says 100% free space. Any idea what could of happened and now I assume all is lost. Any ideas or suggestions. The external drive is a western digital 1tb and has worked great for about a year until now. I have tried a new eSata cable and new housing and still nothing. All hdd checks show no problems.

Are you sure it's recognizing the external?

Perhaps they're still there, but it's seeing the internal drive which is empty.

No, because the internal still shows all the old recorded shows that it had before adding the external drive.
