AM-21 with H-series?

Can the AM-21 be used with the H-series stand-alone receivers...like the H21 or H23. I have no use for a DVR and just want to know in case my H20-600 decides to finally kick the bucket. Thanks

Not yet but it will be able to some time in the near future.
It's possible that it the AM21 will work with H21 and H23 receivers soon, but it does not now.

Thanks...so what are those of us without the tuner in the TV are supposed to do if our H20 dies?
I did not need another HD-DVR, but am getting one tomorrow because I have the same concern. I need the receiver to be able to receive the HD-OTA

Well the HR21 works with the AM21 (add on OTA tuners unit). Just the H21 and H23 is not ready yet.
Has this been updated where the H21 works with the AM21 yet? I just received two H21 that were upgrades so I can receive OTA signals. Was told that if I didn't get an H20, I would get the H21 and AM21s.
Well D* just answered the question for me. After calling and telling them that I wanted OTA local capability, they sent me two H21's. The CSR that helped me was very nice and helpful. She called yesterday to tell me that the H21's wouldn't work with the AM21's for at least a couple of months. I Have the option of waiting for the software upgrade so they work together, or having them ship me two H20's. I think I'll stick with the H20's.

Get a Digital Converter box. They work just fine.

Only if you want SD.

I imagine that someone that previously used a H20 wouldn't like that option.

Exactly...if I wanted SD I would just watch my SD locals off the DirecTv receiver.

- Buy a standalone TV tuner.
- Upgrade to an HR2x w/AM21.
- Buy a new TV with a tuner.

The only reason DirecTV ever included OTA tuners is because they didn't have hardly any HD local coverage for a long time. Now that they do have lots of HD local coverage, they have no reason to spend money to provide you access to content other than their own.
