I've got a strange question...

Will the AM21 work with a HR20-700?

I know, I know, the HR20 has it's own internal tuners. And, I know that the AM21 was designed to be compatible with the likes of the HR21 and HR22, not the HR20.

But, one of my internal OTA tuners has died and the other is fine. I've got content on that box that I don't want to lose, so replacing the box won't work. And, you can't repair the tuner. (Thanks for all the great options, DirecTV!)

I thought, hmm, what would happen if I connected an AM21 to my HR20-700? Would the box recognize the new OTA tuners letting me bypass the broken internal tuner?

Does anyone know?

The AM21 is not supported on the HR20 and I don't expect it ever will be. Unfortunately I don't think there is any good way to deal with this situation other than swapping the box.

OK. Thanks for the quick reply. I really appreciate it.

Maybe they should consider making it work to help customers in my position.

Or, even better, offer a repair service that won't lose my content.

Or, even better, lock content to the customer and not the box. That way I would just buy a new HR22 and transfer the content to it.

Dreaming, I know. :)
