it will ignore it..
Really, even if it did work, you wouldn't gain any functionality, so what would be the point.inkahauts said:umm... I'll ask... Ah, Why?
True it wouldn't be anything to gain from it.say-what said:Really, even if it did work, you wouldn't gain any functionality, so what would be the point.
The girls in my family would not take too kindly to that :nono2: Although .. me .. I'm more about function that aesthetics :lol:houskamp said:Color would clash too:lol:
you can get channels from china.I think they are on channels 750-756 or something like that but don't tell anyone ok :lol:jamieh1 said:What will happen if you hook the AM21 to a HR20?
Has anyone tried it?

Seriously, why?![]()
lol, agreed. Had to put a vinyl cover on the front of the silver DVD player to make it flat black again when we switched back to a black component setup after getting a new tv and the HR21 :lol:Doug Brott said:The girls in my family would not take too kindly to that :nono2: Although .. me .. I have met Mr. Hawking... He's one of them smart people.Canis Lupus said:Well actually if you know anything about Stephen Hawking's work, you would know that space/time continuum theory tells us that there could be 2 alternate, yet parallel, time periods for when OTA could provide mirrored broadcasts.
Think of it like how the toilets flush in a different direction in Australia than they do in North America.
Actually, I think that would be more work than its worth, because they would have to create a patch for the software that would be able to turn off the internal tuners, and recognize the outboard ones, and I have a feeling that its easier to just swap ou tthe units for an HRx whatever and a AM21...gulfwarvet said:True it wouldn't be anything to gain from it.
however, maybe this is just a stupid thought.
Couldn't this be a option in case the built-in OTA tuners failed this could be a fix? all the customer would have to do it get a AM21 and be back up and running. instead of wondering if they will get another HR20 but end up with a HR21 with no OTA.
like i said, this could be just a stupid thought.
Ah, now I see why you ask... Antenna reception though is very touchy... Sounds like you have both setups now... Curios, have you ever swapped them to see if its really a better tuner, or maybe just the feeds of coax running to them? and have you ever had just the HR20 hooked up without the others, to see if that changes the signal levels? I assume you are having break up issues with certain signals. Maybe just swapping the two units locations would solve your issue... Just a thought...jamieh1 said:I was just wondering, I heard it has better tuners, and ive noticed it seems to pick up distant stations better than the HR 20 I have in the living room.
I have an HR20-100 that routinely pixilates and audio freezes on several local HD channels. I also have an H20-600 that has no such problems. I've swaped them, etc. and the Hr20-100 has the problem no matter where it's located. I've also have one TV that has internal digital tuners and have tried it at the same location as the HR20-100. No problems in picture/sound at all with it. My conclusion - at least this one HR20-100's OTA tuners are not as good as they ought to be. Since our market is still no even on the Local HD LiL list, it's an on-going pain to have the OTA reception challenge.inkahauts said:Ah, now I see why you ask... The OTA tuner in the AM21 is measurably superior to the one in the HR20 series. It seems to be superior to the tuner in my Sanyo 37" LCD, and on par with the tuner in my Samsung HL-R5667W. Of course it works only with the HR21 series at the moment, but it works very well.RDH416 said:I have an HR20-100 that routinely pixilates and audio freezes on several local HD channels. I have carefully tested the AM21 against the HR20 series tuners and it is measurably superior, with all other aspects controlled as you suggest.inkahauts said:Ah, now I see why you ask...
