My HR20 occasionally drops some or all OTA channels. It displays "Searching for Signal". A reset always brings the channels back to normal. Does this happen with AM21's also? How do you reset it if it does?

Haven't seen this issue on any of my AM21's.

If I wanted to reset the AM21, I would pull the power cord then redo the antenna setup.

Can you go into Setup on the HR20 and go to Sat and Antenna and navigate to the signal strength screens. I think its in add/remove channels.

Is this a new issue or been there all along?
What's the sig strength of channels exhibiting this behavior? If its 100% then, drops alot and then is 100% again you either have a bad connection or what's known as multipath.

Can guide you further after you provide some more info.

And No, AM21N's do not do this unless there is a problem like multipath that is very severe.

What do you mean by drops OTA channels? Meaning they are gone from the guide or just what you said, that you get searching for signal? I've got 1 HR20 and 2 HR-22's with AM21's and they never get searching for signal on the OTA's...my HR20 was installed in Oct. 2006...going in 5 1/2 years now....what kind of signal strengths do you get of the antenna on your HR20? Are all your OTA signals coming from the same antenna source?

In all the years I've had my AM21s (connected to my HR24 and HR21s) and my HR20-700s, the latter have never lost any subchannels while the former frequently have. Oftentimes, it takes multiple resets and OTA setups to fix the issue.

I've had the hr20-700 since they upgraded to mpeg4. It has always had this bug. It occurs rarely (a couple of times a year usually). Power outages and electrical storms seem to often be involved, but not always. It has nothing to do with the ota signal. As I said it usually starts with a channel being missing. Sometimes for instance 22-1 will show searching for signal but 22-2 and 22-3 will still work (and they are on the same ota signal). I've seen where it will show the wrong channel ie. tune to 16-1 and see 22-1. As I said a reset puts everything right.
