And I thought this install was going to be SIMPLE

:nono2: I called D* last weekend to have someone come out and tweak my dish. The transaponders on 103 (c) were between 45-59%. So the tech comes out and notices that one of the lnb's is defective and that my signals on sat 101 (local channels) are in the 70 range and could be better. Well to make a long story short, I now have NO signal and the D* boxes are "searching for signals". He said, after talking to another tech that I might have a bad line and that is why I am not getting a signal. The signal was workoing fine before he came. I just wanted him to tweak the dish to get a better signal strenght. Now he is "reinventing the wheel" and everything is going wrong. He said that he may have to schedule a rebuild, which will not be done today. The tech works for Directech. I have two kids and no tv (possibly) for who knows how many days. Can anyone give me some ideas on what to do. D* will get a call tonight if I don't have service.

Sounds like an incompetent tech. But seriously, this is only TV. Depending on the age of the kids; play some games, do some puzzles together or take them to the park. Enjoy some family time. But on the other hand, if they are teenagers, best of luck.

Ya, good point on spending time with the kids. But seriously, what could have caused my sat signals to go completely out and nothing works? If I don't have it resolved today and have to wait, I am going to contact D* and politly explain my situation. Yelling will not get me anywhere. I appreciate that the tech found one of the lnb's faulty, but that would'nt cause the whole issue.
I'd be on the phone to D* NOW asking them to get someone out today to fix this since they broke it. No excuse for totally busting your setup.
I spoke to the tech and he said that the lnb he had was bad and when he repalced the lnb the hr20 did not want to accept it and one of the tuners was not working. So, I got a new hr22-100 and all is well. So he did not do anything wrong, he tried to fix some issues that would improve my issue. I feel bad for the tech staying out here soooo long. This tech knew his stuff and was very patient.
He probably got the dish totally wacked out of alignment. Call Directech directly if you have the number, or call D* and explain what happened. Tell them you need fix now, today. (Try to talk to a supervisor).

Edit: Sounded like tech left you dead in the water. I didn't realize he was still there working. Glad it working now.
The sat signals are reading 90-100% across the board on all transaponders.

Not to mention that you said you got a HR22 out of it. I am happy with my HR20 but would love the extra storage space.
I'm sorry, but I have to make an edit on the model number of the D* box they gave me. I actually have the hr21 model.
