Today I received my annual renewal notice from Dish for a January renewal. I currently subscribe to the Top 180 plus the HD Package ($9.99) and the Voom Original package ($5). With the Top 180 there is an option to pay Annually and receive essentially 1 month free. It works out to $550/12 = $45.83. So my programming total is about $60. However, I do get hit with a $6 HD enabling fee which brings the total to $66. If I go to the Metal Gold package at $69.95, the enabling fee goes away, so it looks like that is what I will do. For an additional $4/ month I pickup the balance of the Voom channels.
I stayed on the old package last year as the delta between the annual discount and the Gold package was more significant.
It is too bad that Dish doesn't offer an annual discount on the metal packages.
