call and ask, there aren't any set deals for existing customers
because DirecTv IS rocket science.DFDureiko said:but the big question is, WHY is it so complicated with pricing, customer service etc, why in the world can't they simply things instead of every call being a shopping excursion to Tijuana????

D* employees have no idea what your credit score is.IIP said:Upgrade "deals" are determined based on certain criteria which will be different from account to account. The single most important metric is whether or not you pay your bill on time, meaning before the due date. Other factors include if you've received any deals in the recent past, what programming you subscribe to, and your credit score.
Would not be surprised if they did. Add to teh fact they probably do have a rating scale for your account history, they probably know a lot more then what you are guessingShades228 said:D* employees have no idea what your credit score is.
D* runs a credit check on your initial activation. This score is never displayed nor do they keep updating it. If they did you would see multiple inquiries from D*. I never said they didn't have a rating system for accounts. I don't know any company that doesn't have one that you pay monthly for services.wingrider01 said:Would not be surprised if they did. The best thing to do is to call, b/c there are deals tying in to each cust, if you have been there for that long you should be loyal cust in which means your eligible for a free hd upgrade.krog7d7 said:Hello All!
I've been a DTV customer since 1999.
They upgraded me last year for s/h to a hr21 and new hd dish.
I have a non-hd receiver in the bedroom and was wondering if there are any good deals out there....or if contact DTV to get a free upgrade is possible?
I remember seeing a while back that costco had an hr22 for existing customers at $169.
Anything similar now?
Any help appreciated.
That's not entirely true. Once you're a customer, a company can pull your credit whenever they want. They are "soft" inquiries (meaning not used to take out new credit) and do not affect your credit score or show up in the inquiries section of your credit report.Shades228 said:D* runs a credit check on your initial activation. Exactly right. The score is never shown to the CSRs; DirecTV's service application checks it, runs it through its algorhythm with the other metrics, and either spits out a "does not qualify" message, or presents an offer. CSRs have no way of knowing WHY any of this happens, and aren't trained to care. They just offer the customer what the system tells them they can.hilmar2k said:That's not entirely true. If DIRECTV has your SS#, and your initial permission to pull credit, it is likely that they do know your FICO. It is extremely unlikely, however, that the CSR knows what it is.
have you actually seen an inquiry on your credit ? and if so, what agency. My understanding is that Directv uses a soft inquiry for the check, and that would not impact your credit score. I have never seen a case where there is a second check after activationShades228 said:D* runs a credit check on your initial activation. This score is never displayed nor do they keep updating it.
