When I ordered my HR-20, I was given an installation date of 1/3. When I called back a week later to confirm and possibly change the date, I was told that the order was never promissed and the next available date was 2/7. Obviously, I was very unhappy.

The CSR conferenced me in with the local installation company, but the best he could do at the time was put me on a wait list for earlier installation.

Is there anything else I can do to move up this installation date? I already have service and all of my cables run to an existing SD DirecTivo box.

Thanks.

Your installer will have to upgrade your dish to 5LNB. This is sometimes problematic because the new dish is bigger so it isn't always compatible with your previous dish's location. Also, some people encounter lazy installers who don't want to put the new dish in the same location as the old dish.

Some people have had success going to their DirecTV account online, selecting "View Orders" then trying "Reschedule". Sometimes this will show available installations that are earlier than the existing installation date. It didn't work for me but it has for others.

I had a similar experience. When we got our hr20 ordered we had a schedule for the dish and somehow it never actually got scheduled. We are now on the 15th, but we are on first available for any cancellation.

It sucks, but they are clearly over scheduled at this point as people have been getting pretty far out install dates for several weeks now.

I checked on the website and it said no installation date scheduled. So I called them and still have the date in February. I might try and call again - since they already billed (and credited) me for the new receiver even though the installation date is 6 weeks later.

I find it hard to believe that a new customer would have to wait 6 weeks for service.

I'm in the same boat. I bought an HR-20 from ebay at Thanksgiving, not realizing I needed the new 5lnb dish also. After six weeks of patiently calling once a week, just yesterday(!) I was finally able to get an install date for the new dish only for late Feb.

When I asked about the delay, they claimed that there's a shortage of 5lnb dishes and that's the soonest they'd get one in. However, the service contractor (American Satellite), has 5lnb dishes in stock on their website (for $150!).

I told the CSR that I couldn't believe that if I was a new customer, that I'd have to wait 6 weeks to get an appointment another 6 weeks out. They claimed that as an A-list customer, I actually have priority over them. I have a hard time believing this.

I've been a subscriber since 1999 and love the product but this experience has me on the brink. Each of the 6 times I called, I was promised a return call within 72 hours- never happened. Now after reading some horror stories on this board about these dish installs, I'm worried about that as well. It's so disappointing because their customer service used to be excellent. I've completely lost confidence in them

I posted this in another thread and forum..But, it applies here.

I had made an appoinment on Dec.22 for an HDdvr upgrade. I was given an appt for Jan.3. When that day passed I called and found out they never gave a tech my paperwork and it was not just me. They also told me that I couldn't get a new install date for a few weeks....that was just to get a new date.
Anyways, a few days later I found out my 2yr old Hughes HD receiver was going to be obsolete soon. So since I am a "A" customer they offered me a H20 at no cost. They set me up with a Jan.18 install. So a day or so later I called up and said look you are having someone come down and do most of the same work (installing the 5lnb dish). Why can't you bring the HDdvr with you and do it together. So they were able to schedule both work orders for the same time and date. But, to make sure Directv wasn't screwing around. I asked for the name of the installer. I called them today and they had both orders and are set to come that day. I told them the story and they linked the orders so they don't send two installers and different times to do basically the same job.

Off topic...Has anyone heard of Directech Northeast? They are doing my install.

Looks like D* just made some new dates available. My original date was 2/24, called all week to change it to no avail but today I was able to move it up to 1/20. Go online or give them a call now if you're looking to move up.

I currently have a March 1 install date, but would like to move it to a date in February, which is when I will be moving into a new house. Looks like D* wesbite only shows available dates for the current month. Is there anyway to see dates further out than January?

I orderd on 1/10/07 and got a April 7th as the first install date :(

I called to reschedule today and got the same story.
I then asked if I could get on waiting list for cancelaltions.
He put me on hold and then came back with Feb 2nd.

I hope they show ;)

Good luck,

I talked to the Chicago installation company Friday. They said there still wasn't much they could do. They said that the lack of HR20s was the issue. If I could get DirecTV to send me one, they could move the date up.

They were hoping more would come in stock.

I was plodding along, satisfied with my Valentine's Day installation date for 5lnb dish and HR20.
Then this weekend, I got bored (ice storm and all) and I checked online to see if an earlier date had become available. I logged onto my account and noticed that my installation showed "unscheduled" and was instructed to call customer service at the 888#.
Well, after 30 minutes on hold, I reached a CSR who told me I had called the wrong number. It seems that Directv had "divided the country east and west" for customer service, and I had called the east coast number. (The number instructed by their website, I might reiterate.) So CSR #1 took my info and transferred me to an 800# for the "west " customer service.
CSR#2 answered and researched my account, and sure enough, my install was not scheduled. She had no explanation why the 2/14 date was "unscheduled". She checked with her supervisor, who claims they ended their contract with Premier Communications who had just completed my initial D* installation in December. She said the new installer was "3 Rio" or "Rio 3"...she wasn't exactly certain.
Anyway, she promised that I should hear from the installer within 72 hours with a new installation date, and she would ask for an expedited date since I had been "unscheduled" twice.
Not holding my breath, but we shall see...

As I stated in a previous thread, my install date was originally 3/1. I live in Atlanta.

I called back this morning to see if I could get something a little more convenient. I was able to secure a 2/14 date. I could have gotten an even earlier date if I wanted, but 2/14 was the earliest I could install in my new house.

Yesterday day I was able to move up my installation date even more through the directv website.

For the last week I was getting an error when I tried to Reschedule saying I needed to call. Something must have clicked yesterday and I allowed me to pick an new date.

Keep checking online, it's worth a shot ;)

I had my HR20 & H20 installed today (I am not a new customer). Made the install appt. last week. I asked if he was busy. He said no. But, most of their calls are for upgrades to HD.

For the record I am in Central NJ.

I ordered an Upgrade to a 5LNB and D20 last night on the website and got an install date of 2/3. I called today, spoke to someone in the Rio3 Re-Schedule dept, and got an install for this Saturday the 20th.

I don't know if it helped that I am an A-List customer.

I was told by Installation that all upgrades are on hold untill they get all the new customers installed. So much for being an A customer.
