Since I've had 4 resets in the last week and a half (which is more than I've had in almost 3 months of ownership), I've decided to keep a diary of my issues. Right now I only have the 4 resets that required a RBR to fix it, but I'll probably go through my old posts to see if I can add those other resets and maybe some other issues.

Good job. Great idea.

I'd suggest you also include a column with the firmware version you had at the time.

If we had 50-60 people doing this same thing, we might begin to assemble some interesting and useful data.

A couple of other thoughts:
  • I added my username to the file name in case someone at D* is collecting these files. Unique file names make that easier, and allow for contact back with questions.
  • I added my username inside the file.
  • I added a 2nd worksheet with my equipment configuration.
  • I added a "Results" column to document what happened after the RBR or other corrective action.
  • I made the first event a "log starts" event.
  • I added a 3rd worksheet where I archive events from previous firmware releases.

The file is here. Right-click, "Save As" if you want to check it out.

Updated 2007/03/26 10:44a CDT - final update - converted to a web link rather than an attachment - I will be updating the file that the link points to every Sunday evening, at least for a while longer.

Ive haved a similar issue. Ever since 108, my box has reset itself (without my help) about once every other day. I was thinking my box was about to die, but now I know it is most likely the firmware. I will start keeping a log of when my box resets so we people in the forums could compare notes.

Recommendation:

1) A thread like this should be a sticky.
2) A "standard" spreadsheet should be defined and included in the first post of the sticky, including naming convention.
3) The only posts allowed in the thread would be those that have a spreadsheet, using the standard format and naming convention, attached.
4) Users would be asked to update their spreadsheet at least once a week, even if nothing had gone wrong (confirmation of proper functioning is just as important as capturing bug data). Updating would consist of attaching an updated file, and editing the post to reflect the date the file was updated.

I wish it were that simple. I've had native on since day one and I'd say mine has been one of the most well behaved units out there. Only having these issues with 10b.

I didn't know it was your first time, or I'd have been more gentle.

That's what it's there for. Now you need to rename it to include your user name.
:D

Changed the OP with the new correctly named file.

Well, let's see it then.
I am going to wait on my wife to get home as I am clueless with Excel. I have the info all written down, maybe she'll give me a crash course in Excel so I can keep it updated.

I know my way around a cordless drill, and a skilsaw, but spreadsheets...not so much.

Saved a copy of the diary on my local pc. Looks like a good template for issues.
I have only added an audio drop out on my diary so far.
Thanks mtnagel

Can you type? :) It's pretty simple since the format is done, just start typing in the boxes.

I've updated mine.

My wife calls me Lumberhands, does that answer your question?

I didn't know how to edit text within the cells, and a couple other things. She got me straight VIA email so, without further adieu....:hurah:
