FedX is delevering another HD DVR to me tomorow, to replace an R10, just curious if anyone has got a HR22 DVR this way yet? I'm hoping for the best.
Which HD DVR would you prefer if OA was not an issue?

My current HR20-700 has been a good DVR fot the last year, particularly once I added a 750 GB esta HD.

Hmmmm. By Fedex, you mean that D* is shipping you a replacement/upgrade receiver via Fedex? If so, don't count on getting a HR22.

I got a HR22-100 at Best Buy last week. $200, if you want the larger disk drive then expect to pay for it.

I thought about going to BB but I got my repacment for $20 from DTV I figure worse case I buy a 750Gb esta hard drive and I'll still come out ahead. I know the chances are slim of getting a HR22 as I said just curious if anyone else had any luck.

There've been a couple of posts about new installations getting an HR22.
Here's one.

As far as getting a brand new HR22 as a replacement - well, I'd bet against it. You'll likely get a refurb HR20.....

I just called DTV and ask for their best deal on a HD-DVR. I had one HD-DVR and slimline dish installed about this time last year and my other two set ups are DVRs so my cables are already ran. So all I was looking to do was drop one of my R10s and add an HD-DVR.
They first offered $99 + $20SH =$120, my limit was $49 or I would go buy a HR22 at BBuy. I asked if I could recieve some credits to offset the costs, after some time on hold the rep came back with the offer of me paying for shipping & handling $20+ tax. I couldn't turn that down as much as I would prefer to have a new HR22 and not have to deal with the possibility of problems from a refurbished unit.

So I saved $180 in the short run and time will tell if I regret not getting a HR22 of course I'm still hoping thats what they send me. I'll let you know what I get, as long as it is reliable I realy don't care too much what model it is, but new would be better than refurbished.

Hopefully I'll get one within the next week. DirecTv sent me a refurbished HR21 on Friday. I called them and stated that I was supposed to get a new receiver and requested a HR22. They said they'd correct the order and Tuesday I received a new HR21, so I called them again and again asked for the HR22 stating that the last CSR promised it would be shipped. They claimed a "special request" order has now been sent to their warehouse and I should be receiving the HR22 within 5-10 days. Who knows if it will actually happen.

Let us know if you get a HR22 this way. Generaly the info I have seen on this site says you cannot request a specfic model, I also was told this when I placed my order by a CSR.

Well it has been a little interesting this evening. FedEX delevered a refurbishied HR21-700 this evening. It had no HDMI cables and no BBC...ah hell:eek2: ! Called up DTV and was polite but firm with my displeasure got a nice tech who worked woth me an this is the latest. I will return the refurbished unit and they will send me a NEW HD-DVR ASAP and will add a note pushing for a HR 22 he can't gaurentee it but will do all that they can to make it an HR 22 according to the tech it should have been a new HD-DVR not a refurbished unit the warehouse screwed it up. At the very least it will be a new unit.

For my trouble I got 3mo of HBO free and
a $20 credit for the next 6 months.
I'm happy with the way that DTV handled they issue.:D

And I thought they would just ship me some BBCs.

Did the box have an NC in the part number?
It is Model HR21-700C-R....refurbished no NC in any number I see.
Why do you ask?

Now that I have thought about it i kinda wish I had told the tech what with the delays and credits he offered could l just go to BB and pick up an HR22, have it now and keep the credits, then my net cost for the HR22 from BB would have been $80. But the tech was very compatant and helpful so I'll stick with whatwe agreed to.

I'll put the xtra $120 to the esta HD.

NC means without cables.

I think they are sending receivers that are meant for bad receiver swap outs. were the customer already would have the cables.

For receiver upgrades they should send the cables and BBC's.

This has happened several times lately with other members here, they get a HDDVR receiver upgrade and no BBC's or cables.

Thanks, that is more or less what I was told the refurbs are for bad DVR swap out in which case you would already have all the cables and BBCs. If you are upgrading to HD you should get a new DVR.

So let's say that I buy a HR22 today, and in a few months it has problems. When I ask for a replacement exchange, will DirecTV send me another HR22, or will it be a step back to a HR21?
More the reason to wait for awhile to upgrade my HR20, so all the smaller hard drive HRs are gone out of the system.
