I don't have OTA, but since this morning, I'm not getting any of my HD locals off the dish without severe pixelization.
Thanks. Now the question is it the unit or the station.vankai said:Hi poppo,
We have 771 also on 5-2.
Take the OTA antenna cable from the IRD, and go directly into the TV's tuner (assuming it is ATSC).poppo said:Thanks. Now the question is it the unit or the station.
Yeah, I can try that, although getting to the cable and the back of TV is a PITA.Kansas Zephyr said:Take the OTA antenna cable from the IRD, and go directly into the TV's tuner (assuming it is ATSC).
If your OTA signals are strong, you may want to install a splitter and always feed OTA to both the IRD and the TV.poppo said:Yeah, I can try that, although getting to the cable and the back of TV is a PITA.
Join the crowd! Not sure how many other subscribers in San Antonio are experiencing the same issue. Ours started Sunday with only Channel 4, however, as of yesterday all the locals (ABC, CBS, NBC, and FOX) are suffering from severe pixelization.MikeG0628 said:I don't have OTA, but since this morning, I'm not getting any of my HD locals off the dish without severe pixelization.
I have 3 HR20s. Two are set up for OTA and one is set up for the HD locals over the sat. I rarely use the one with the sat locals. However this morning I took a look at it and all of the HD locals were a mess. I then went to one of the units that I was using OTA, and turned on the sat locals in the guide. I got the same picture breakup and pixelation. So next, I called CS and they had me check the signals on the 103 sat which she said the locals were on. The signals looked good. She then offered to a free service call. I declined at the time since my in-laws just down the street are having a new dish and HD DVRs installed tomorrow. I was going to wait to see how theirs worked while the installer was there.elbyj said:Join the crowd! Not sure how many other subscribers in San Antonio are experiencing the same issue.
I believe we are experiencing a "smoking mirror" from DIRECTV in this case. The reason we are not seeing pixelization on the locals is they have replaced the HD signal with the SD signal on the locals. The SD signal has been good since this situation happened, only the HD signal channels have been bad. Wonder if anyone else in the San Antonio area is also encountering the same issues??? Or is it just us, which I hardly believe!poppo said:I have 3 HR20s. Two are set up for OTA and one is set up for the HD locals over the sat. I rarely use the one with the sat locals. Anyway, after I hung up, mysteriously, the sat HD locals started working fine on all receivers. So I don't know if it was a coincidence, or she did something on her end, or if testing the signal on a different unit caused it to start working. <shrug>
BTW, I still have no OTA 5-2
Thanks. That is the info I was looking for (that it has been gone for a while). I too used it to check the weather, although it seemed that they kept changing the radar versions. It was funny because several times the computer crashed or whatever and you could see them logging back on and all of the stuff they were typing. Real secure system you got there KENS.ASAOG said:Long time lurker, first time poster. I have monitored OTA channel 5-2 for several weeks. This used to be the Doppler Radar display but for whatever reason, it has been missing and the channel defaults to 5-1.
