I'm just curious to see if anyone has tried a Drobo as an external drive in an DTV HR20.

Drobo only has USB and FireWire connections, no eSATA. It can't be used with the HR20.

Second Jeremy, but it would be nice to have -- especially for those that do a lot of HD recording.

I wonder how the HR2x would respond to it?

Still kinda expensive, even without drives, and the added cost of the network attachment (unless you hook it to a windows home server or something).

If you connected it via USB? It would respond the same way it responds to every other unsupported USB device you may connect to it: by doing absolutely nothing.

Yeesh for what they are charging can get a 16 drive ESata hotswap raid enclosure and 1TB drives through newegg and come out ahead.
