I use AirPort Expresses with both of my Vip 622s. You do need to get AirPort Utility to set up the AX & then set up broadband in the 622/722 menu.
Could you all explain what you are doing with the Airport Express and the 622 receiver in more detail. I have an Airport Express close to my 622 and it is used to send I Tunes to my AV Receiver. But what use is the Airport Express to the 622 receiver? Thanks

You can use it as the Ethernet connection to the 622. If you have a wireless network and don't want to run an Ethernet cable from your 622 to the router, use this sort of bridge device to make the 622 connection wireless.

You have to plug an ethernet cable from the 622 into the AirPort Express. Set up your AirPort Base Station & the AirPort Express to "Participate in a WDS network." Then on the 622 go to Menu > 6 > 1 > 9 > 1 & click "Reset Connection." When it is done, press Menu again then 6 > 3 > Connection to verify the broadband connection is OK.

For ChuckA:
The AirPort Express is a wireless bridge & more.

How is this actually done? Is there a setup menu in the 622 to have it connect wirelessly to your wireless system? And if so then why can't it just connect directly like our Wii or Playstation can? Why does it need the Airport Express? Thanks.

The receiver does not natively have a wireless network interface (NIC). It has only a wired Ethernet connector. So, you can use a wireless bridge type product to do the wireless conversion if you need to use wireless. Of course you don't have to do that. Just run a cable from the receiver to your router if you can.

There is no special setup menu in the receiver since it is simply using the wired connection.
