You will not get the 9 Day Guide. Also, you won't have access to Dish Home. The only application that works without Dish500 is DishWeather.
Are any 508 features tied to having dish 500?
I don't need the extra channels with the 500 upgrade but will the 508 get the 8 day guide and all other features without it?
