Help! I'm expecting my installer any minute and he was telling me on the phone that Directv is moving AWAY from rather than TO th 99 satellite with MPEG 4.

I think that's wrong.

Anyway, I've got signal strengths in the teens on my 99 transponders that get it at all.

Could you step up and confirm/disabuse him of this notion?

Yes all channels from the 99 and 103 birs [ 4 in total ] are MPEG4.

The bulk of the HD channels are on the 103(c), and new National HDs and many added HD locals are going to the 99. And yes MPEG-4 all over the 99

The 99 SAT is D11 - it's brand new so there wouldn't be much to remove

Keep in mind as well there's 99(c) and 99(s).

C = CONUS (Nat'l)
S = Spotbeams (Locals "pointed" in certain markets).

I'm in Boise, so my 99(s) is mostly 0's or low numbers from surrounding Spots.

The installer needs to get the 99(c) up there for sure though.

Yes, 99 and 103. HD will be spread out between D10 and D11.

Just at first glance I'm having a hard time reconciling how those 99 numbers could be so low while the 101 and 103 are so much higher.

Are the numbers about equal on the 2nd tuners for those SATs?

OK - if those signals you're reporting are the same across all tuners and all receivers in your house, I'd be a bit suspicious of possibly a faulty LNB Assembly.

Double-check those numbers on all tuners in your house.

Does anyone else have ideas? I can't wrap my mind around the huge differences in the numbers without thinking moisture or something else at some point damaged the 99 part of the LNB.

EDIT: The multiswitch is a Zinwell WB68 correct?

Correct - and the installer replaced the LNBs last Monday just to be on the safe side.

Specifically espn, espn 2, tnt and all the other old mpeg 2 channels are now mirrored on 99c in mpeg 4. Check the 200+ version of the channels to see if they come in.
