I doubt that DirecTV could ever get the permissions needed to transfer media to the iPhone like AT&T has... but one can hope!

This sounds like a cool idea. I wonder if Directv is working on anything like this for the iPhone?

Once the new orb app for the iPhone 3g is released that will fix the problem. I think the 2.0 iPhone 3g app is currently in closed beta,so there is no time line on its release yet.
